Jimmy Hughes born 25th April 1935, Leighton, Alabama, . established producer Rick Hall's fledgling Fame studio as an R&B mecca with his 1964 blues ballad Steal Away. Jimmy J. Hughes born February 3, 1938 is an American former rhythm and blues singer, whose biggest successes in the mid-1960s, notably his hit Steal Away, were important in the early development of the Muscle Shoals music industry. Hughes, a cousin of Percy Sledge, was born and raised in Leighton, Alabama, close to Muscle Shoals. He began singing in a gospel quartet, The Singing Clouds, while at high school. While Jimmy Hughes' second album from 1967 was titled Why Not Tonight, this CD is more an expanded version of that LP rather than a straight reissue. The first ten tracks are indeed the Why Not Tonight album in its original sequence, but it's followed by 11 bonus tracks from the same era, essentially doubling the length of the original LP and adding historical liner notes.
