Album

Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik is the 1994 debut album of American hip hop duo OutKast. After befriending each other in 1992, rappers André 3000 and Big Boi pursued recording music as a duo and worked with production team Organized Noize, which led to their signing to LaFace Records. The album was produced by the team and recorded at the Dungeon, . Studios, Purple Dragon, Bosstown, and Doppler Studios in Atlanta. Released April 26, 1994. Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik Tracklist. Peaches Intro Lyrics. One example of this was when they were recognized by The Source magazine at their 1995 award show as the New Artist of the Year. The New York crowd booed them as they took the stage to accept their award, leading André to respond with his iconic statement: The South got somethin' to say. Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik Q&A. The album was not only artistically successful but also thrived commercially, leaping into the Top 20 album chart on the back of the outstanding hit single Player's Ball and eventually going platinum. Although a little bit too dependent on overly simplistic and programmed snare beats, the music is unconditionally excellent, with languid, mellow melodies sliding atop rapid, mechanical drums. Outkast - Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik - Cd. Go Unlimited. This was Outkast's first album, from 1994, and they look like babies. Well, teenagers-Andre looks about 14 and Big Boi maybe 16 or 17. Their voices sure are developed, though, and their amazing lyrics are delivered with smooth vocals. Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik is another hot track that the duo was about. Then there is Crumblin' Erb the smokin' song, layin' back and just chillin. The bouncy track Ain't No Thang was another standout song on this album. Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik was released by LaFace on April 26, 1994, and peaked at number 20 on the Billboard 200, eventually being certified platinum in the United States. The album has since been viewed by music journalists as an important release in both hip hop and Atlanta's music scene. Though theyd met at an Atlanta mall only two years earlier, they already sounded like soulmates by the time they dropped their 1994 debut. Whats more, the record not only introduced the world to hip-hops greatest odd couple-swaggering, smooth-talking Big Boi and a far-out word nerd known then as simply Dré-but it also broke the coasts beef-based monopoly on relevance. Southern rap wasnt a thing until people had to come up with a way to classify this heady set of languid funk, moody grooves, slurred. Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik CD, Album. Wish I would’ve read the comments on this album. Was pissed when I saw DEEP was not on the album. Nothing special about this album to be numbered. What a waste.
Adrietius
Vinyl me please is releasing it next month with all tracks intact like original release.
Quphagie
Agreed, this is definitely not 180 gram weight , ,
Xar
Is this really 180g? Feels flimsier than that . .
Cala
There is no way this is 180g. I compared it to a 180g just to make sure I wasn't losing my mind. This feels like it is a standard vinyl.
Ironfire
is anyone familiar with the chopped and screwed version of this album?? Outkast - Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (20th Anniversary Edition C&S)

I'm surprised by how many people are complaining about the sound quality of this release. There are so many extremely popular hip-hop releases, reissues included, that sound much, much worse than this one (some of which are practically unlistenable) but I see no complaints on any of those release pages. For the record, I am usually the first to complain about this sort of thing.
Ces
Apparently this release has a standard re-issue now? Anyone care to confirm?
Jark
As usual, noz said it best:"…avoid the Outkast album entirely. As with the original promo-only vinyl release, this new pressing omits a few songs to squeeze the rest onto a single disc. I’m going to assume the sound quality is as compromised as it was on the original too. This is precisely why Record Store Day is a complete waste of time and plastic - rather than taking the opportunity to give one of the greatest albums of all time a proper remaster across a double LP so people can, y’know, actually hear it in all its glory they give us a stamped and numbered limited edition trophy item to hang on the wall (or resell on Ebay)." — Andrew Nosnitsky http://tumblinerb.com/post/83231561289/i-understand-your-contempt-for-record-store-day-due-to

Lol, nice...I especially like this part. So true:'' In the ‘90s the popular conspiracy theory was that labels were purposely self-sabotaging sound quality on new release vinyl as to herd consumers to the new and superior compact disc format. They pressed shitty records because they didn’t want you to buy it. Today they press shitty records because they know you’re going to buy it anyway.''
Froststalker
I wasted my money, don't waste yours. I will never listen to this piece of vinyl ever again. Without a doubt the worst quality pressing I have ever heard.
Mr.Twister
I have to agree with what the previous posters wrote - the local record joint was charging $27 for this, I bought it and it the worst quality record I have ever heard (sound quality is to low and has to be played much higher then OG pressings of this album = OG plays fine at 10 this has to be played at 13/14 in order to compensate for the low hissy quality, to be honest not worth listing to or the money I paid for it - complete ripoff if you ask me. lewisskolnick is correct this should have been a 2XLP right now its an overpriced RSD trinket if you ask me.
The Sinners from Mitar
Sound quality fail... Still a great album, but ahould have been a 2xlp.
Fearlessdweller
They're the same, Music On Vinyl just picked up an extra 1000 from LaFace/BMG as a Europe only release for RSD. So far, it sounds a bit flat and lower volume in comparison to the OG pressing. Also, I had issues with Ain't No Thang, there was the occasional choppy and skippy sounds that would come up from time to time. Overall, it's a nice substitute to the now very expensive OG pressing if you don't have this album at all, but it just sounds a little flat, hissy, and you need to turn the volume up for it. Just my 2 cents.
Kajishakar
I originally thought that it would have been a 2xLP myself. Someone had dropped that rumour on the internet and that's the idea I'm sure a lot of us had had.
LiTTLe_NiGGa_in_THE_СribE
Im interested to know more about the quality, i have a copy en route but i wont be opening it or keeping it if the quality is poor, any replies appreciated (maybe worth noting i have a Music on Vinyl copy and not a Laface copy if it makes any difference?)
Shomeshet
This pressing is god awful. There's just no output, not even with a +12dB gain adjustment. What a rip off.
Samutilar
I got number 161 !!! fuckin stoked haha great album!

I don't understand the people trying to flip this. This is going to continue to be pressed at retail price. This was not an exclusive, just a RSD launch day title.
riki
Agreed. I understand the original pressing going for high, considering that it's nice to have the original, but the re-issues would usually come from a digital recording source, so it wouldn't sound as nice as the OG.
Usishele
Within 2 hours of rsd I saw 25 listings of this on ebay lol so ridiculous that people make everything "rare or exclusive" and not about having the fucking music to listen to
